The Use of Intralesional Steroids in a Case of Localized Pemphigus Foliaceus

چکیده
A 37-year-old South-Asian male presented to our clinic with a crusty, verrucous-like, scaly plaque of the left ala of the nose. After ruling out infectious and other epidermal bullous diseases, we finalized a diagnosis of localized pemphigus foliaceus, an exceptionally rare disorder with only 15 cases reported in the literature to date. The hyperkeratotic lesions responded favorably to a 3-week regimen of triamcinolone ointment and a onetime intralesional triamcinolone 2.5 mg/mL injection.

Localized pemphigus foliaceus with unilateral facial involvement: A case report
Pemphigus foliaceus is an autoimmune blistering condition more often than not associated with generalized lesions. Localized Pemphigus foliaceus is a rare entity. Herein, we report a case of pemphigus foliaceus localized on the face. A 64-year-old woman was referred to our clinic with a 2-year history of erythematous plaque on the right side of her face. The histology report was compatible with...

Pemphigus foliaceus is a superficial vesiculobullous disease that typically presents with widespread lesions. Localized presentations are less frequent, and they typically occur in middle-aged patients, following exposure to topical medications, and later on, become more disseminated. We present a case of a 19-year-old female with a localized presentation of pemphigus foliaceus unrelated to pre...

Pemphigus erythematosus (PE) is an autoimmune blistering disease combining features of pemphigus foliaceus (PF) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). We report a case of PE associated with anti-double-stranded DNA (anti-dsDNA), anti-Smith (anti-Sm), anti-Ro (anti-SSA), and antiribonucleoprotein (anti-RNP) antibodies. This case required extensive immunosuppressive therapy. We treated our patie...

Although psoriasis and bullous diseases are considered to be completely different disease entities, the literature has reported a few cases of psoriasis associated with bullous diseases, most of which are bullous pemphigoid. In limited cases, pemphigus foliaceus has also been reported in association with psoriasis. In most of them, pemphigus lesions usually developed on an untreated patient wit...
متن کاملTransition from Pemphigus Foliaceus to Pemphigus Vulgaris: Case Report with Literature Review
The transition between the main subtypes of pemphigus, pemphigus vulgaris (PV), and pemphigus foliaceus (PF) has rarely been reported. Moreover, the development of PV in a patient with PF is much more unusual than that of PF in a patient with PV. We report a 48-year-old man who presented with cutaneous lesions showing the typical clinical and histological features of PF. Five years later, his s...
